Charles became the President of our Board of Directors in 2024. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Finance with a concentration in International Business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He received his Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law. While enrolled in law school, Charles served as president of the Law Student Bar Association.
Charles is deeply involved in his community. He is the past president of the Tipton County Bar Association, a member, a member and past president of the Covington Lions Club, and a member of the Board of Directors for Leadership Collierville. He also sits on the Board of Directors of State Community College Foundation.
Charels enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and playing golf and guitar.
Isaiah Davidson served as president of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region from January 2022-December 2022. Isaiah Davidson, a native of Oxford Mississippi, had a notable passion for education at an early age. He attended Central High School and afterwards he attended Mary Holmes College in West Point Mississippi from 1963-1965. During this time, he was very active in sports such as football, track, and the yearbook staff. There he received his Associate of Arts degree in education. Isaiah received his bachelor’s degree from Lane College.
After graduating from Lane College, he was drafted in the U.S. Army, where he served two years that included a tour of Vietnam. In 1970, Isaiah married Dorothy Dowell of Covington, Tennessee. They spent many years of happiness together until her death in 2014. Isaiah is the proud grandfather to beautiful twin girls, Kayla and Kayden Armstrong.
In 1979, Isaiah attended Memphis State in Memphis Tennessee where he received his Master’s Degree + 45 certifications in Education, Administration and Supervision. Isaiah began teaching in 1970-1981. From 1981-1991 Isaiah was assistant principal at Munford High School. From 1991-1992 Isaiah was principal at Munford Elementary School. From 1992-2003 Isaiah was the principal at Munford Middle School and from 2003-2006 he was principal of Covington Integrated Arts Academy. From 2006-2009, after his retirement from Tipton County Schools Isaiah served as a Multicultural Consultant.
Never one to take a backseat and go unnoticed, Isaiah’s involvement in social, civic, religious, and educational and community organizations included A lifetime member of
Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., Beta Lambda, Lane College, Board Member of Delta Human Resource Agency, NAACP, Veterans Museum, Board of Directors of Jackson Tennessee Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., Tennessee Retired Teachers Association, current member of the Tipton County Board of Education, and as well as an active member of Smith Grove Baptist Church in Covington, Tennessee, where he serves as officer and treasurer. In his leisure time Isaiah enjoys reading, fitness, traveling, and volunteering.
Amber Shaw is the current President Elect of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region; hailing from McNairy County, Amber brings a wealth of experience in complex litigation, ranging from catastrophic injury claims to unraveling fraudulent schemes on behalf of injured parties.
Prior to joining Harris Shelton, Amber practiced with her longtime mentor and former law partner, the venerable J. Houston Gordon.
For over a decade, Amber has honed her skills as a trial lawyer in both jury and bench trials. Amber has conducted numerous depositions, arguments, motions, trial examinations, and has experience with appeals.
“When you work with clients going through a trauma – whether it’s business or personal – you give them hope,” she says. “I always want to leave them in a better position than where they started.”
Dr. Jayson Cannon was raised in a family in which healthcare was the foundation. His father was a medical doctor and his several aunts are in the medical field as well. He was born into a life of health care and service.
He learned early on from his father that as a Christian, you believe that you are born with all the things we need for optimal health, unless attacked by an outside force. The premise of Chiropractic being that removing the interference on the body’s nervous system is spot-on to this belief system.
Dr. Cannon graduated from Covington High School in 1995. He earned a bachelor of Science Degree in Anatomy from Parker University and a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic from Parker University’s College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas.
He strives to be a leader in the community, serving on several boards; Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region, BancorpSouth, Industrial Development Board, and South Tipton Chamber of Commerce.
David Bennett is the Executive Chef for Baptist Tipton Hospital. David is from Louisiana but currently lives in Mississippi with his wife and son. David is a graduate of LSU and an Army Veteran. David began volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club in 2016 by sponsoring and cooking the Steaks for the Boys & Girls Club’s Steak & Burger Fundraiser. David joined the board in 2020 and continues to serve in many capacities. David won the 2022 new board member of the year award for the state of Tennessee and the 2022 new board member of the year award for the southeast region.
Paul Rose was born and raised in West Tennessee; Paul Rose is a lifelong resident of Tennessee’s 32nd Senate District. He currently resides in his hometown of Covington, Tennessee with his wife of forty-five years, Nancy. Together they have three children, Kate, Rebecca, and John Paul, along with six grandchildren.
First and foremost, Rose has dedicated his life to serving the Lord. Lifelong members of First Baptist Church in Covington, Nancy and he are active members of their congregation. Rose currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home and is a past board chairman. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region and the Dyersburg State Community College Foundation Board.
Rose joined the family business in 1974 and has played an integral role in growing the small company from three employees into several companies employing over 150 employees. Serving as President of Rose Construction, he knows first-hand the hardships of being a business owner and believes that we should continue working to make Tennessee the most business friendly state in the country.
Rose is a strong believer in less government and a staunch defender of our 2nd Amendment. He is taking his conservative Christian values to Nashville as he represents Tennessee’s 32nd Senate District.
James Sneed is a seasoned leader with a lifelong commitment to service in Tipton County, carrying forward his family’s legacy in entrepreneurship and public service. With over 30 years at FedEx in key roles focused on safety, training, and diversity, James has developed a reputation for leading teams through complex challenges and instilling a “Safety Above All” culture across diverse operations. Currently, James is the Safety Manager for CBRE in the hospital Sector. He oversees critical safety initiatives across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. His responsibilities include inspections and observations for OSHA, and ensuring compliance of programs, and building partnerships with healthcare and regulatory agencies to prioritize the wellbeing of thousands of employees and clients.
In his spare time, as the owner of Divine Grille, James applies his organizational and leadership skills to offer custom culinary experiences for events across West Tennessee. Beyond his business, his commitment to community leadership shines through his role as a Tipton County Commissioner where he has served for 22 years. In this capacity, James is also Vice Chair of the Finance Committee. In addition to this role, James serves as Vice Chairman on the Tipton County 911 Emergency Communication Board. James has previously served on the TCSA (Tennessee County Services Association) and TCCA (Tennessee County Commission Association) boards. These roles have enabled James to contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and economic growth initiatives across the region, including his rewarding and pivotal time as a County Commissioner.
His forward-thinking approach and deep-rooted understanding of local needs position him to tackle pressing challenges and create sustainable solutions.
James is married to his beautiful wife, Dwana Sneed, and is a proud father of two children: Timya, a student at The University of Mississippi, and Landell, a 10th grader at Munford High School. James and his family are members at Journey Church in Millington, TN.
Nacquia Johnson is a 25-year resident of Tipton County. My husband and I, Dr. Samuel Johnson, medical doctor and Air Force Veteran, are business owners of Johnson Clinic of Covington, INC, as we have raised four children in Tipton County, Dillan Johnson, Navy veteran and IT professional, Alexis Johnson, a Tipton County star athlete and May 2022 graduate of University of Memphis in Biomedical Engineering, Farraday Johnson, a sophomore University of Memphis Biomedical Engineering honor student and reigning Miss MidSouth Fair 2022, and Jordan Johnson a junior Mississippi Valley State University honor students and basketball player. In life and on the job, I have supervised, managed and lead people all the while understanding that it is necessary to treat people with care. I understand that this is done by communicating - both listening and speaking- to work ideas and situations out for the greater good of all involved. I am currently a Health Information Management Technology college instructor for the Tennessee Board of Regents, Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Ripley, TN.
Michelle is a devoted wife of nearly 25 years, a mother of five, and a passionate entrepreneur. Her entrepreneurial spirit drives her to engage deeply with our community, whether through local business initiatives or volunteer efforts, reflecting my sincere passion for making a positive impact and fostering connections that uplift those around her.
Michelle’s passion for community service helped inspire her to get involved with the Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce and Junior Auxiliary of Tipton County. She also participates in Tipton County’s TOTAL Adult Leadership to learn more about Tipton County and gain valuable leadership skills.
Michelle is committed to the continued success of the Boys & Girls Club of the River Hatchie Region. She provides leadership, creativity, and a genuine commitment to serve others.
Will Carter is a lifelong resident of Tipton County. He has worked for Tipton County in the Assessor’s Office for 18 years and is a member of First United Methodist Church of Covington. Will is an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his family. When not on the golf course, you can find Will in the kitchen or outside on the grill. He is married to Sara Carter and has two wonderful children, Nola (7) and Duke (4).
Will has been a board member at the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region since 2022.
Nicholas Shaw is one of the founding board members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region. Nicholas holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis. He currently works as a Senior Underwriter with Fidelity National Financial. Originally from Memphis, TN Nicholas moved to Covington in 2010 where he currently resides with his wife and 2 daughters.
Annette Johnson is native of Covington, TN. Annette is a model and actress by trade. She has served on City of Covington Planning Board and the Tipton Counting Election Board. Annette has been an active board of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region for over two years. Annette enjoys decorating and helping club members with their youth of the year speeches.
Ed Doyle became the Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region in 2025.
Ed had 33-year career in the retail automotive industry, but his true passion lies in serving others. He has devoted more than 20 years of his life to working with youth and young adults in various capacities for non-profit organizations across the South and Mid-South, including in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Tennessee.
Ed is an ordained minister. In 2018, he and his wife Julie co-founded “Church Under a Tree”, a street ministry that is currently ministering to youth and families in the Frazier Park area of Covington.
